Compassion Katy Photos - Hurricane Ike Damage in Clear Lake, TX

Pictures below were taken of and around a house that a team of 12 from Compassion Katy and C.O.R.E. (a local group much like Compassion Katy, but in Clear Lake) area began the cleanup effort on a house owned by "DJ". She is a wonderful women on disability without any homeowners insurance. This is her family home where she grew up. As you will see nearly everything in her house is a total loss. The picture with the walls and rooms are what we encountered when walking in this morning. And yes, what you see on the outside of the kitchen cabinets is very thick mold. It shows up fast. Rooms full of furniture, clothes, and the interior mess show clearly the effect of over 6 feet surging into a house. Her house is across the highway just a short distance from the Kiema Boardwalk. The large piles of debris you see are what we removed from the house. Dj is living in the small trailer in the driveway across the street shown in one of the pictures.

In addition to removing debris from the attached garage and the house, the team was able ot begin sanitizing, which must be done before building back is started.
